The Green Carpet Fashion Awards

2017 - 2019

The Green Carpet Fashion Awards, Italia, are the first fashion awards to champion craftsmanship and sustainability, held from 2017 to 2019 during Milan Fashion Week at the iconic La Scala opera house. As Senior Designer for the awards, I played a key role across all three years, leading print design, digital design, and art direction.

Collaborating with the production team, I partnered with Econyl, a materials brand, to create a 1,700-square-foot green carpet for the 2017 and 2018 events, which adorned Milan’s Piazza Scala. We also produced a massive woven tapestry that covered the exterior of La Scala, both made from recycled nylon sourced from reclaimed fishing nets. Additionally, I designed a digital animation that was projected onto the Gallerie d’Italia during the event.

In 2018 and 2019, I worked under the creative direction of Vogue’s Hamish Bowles. For the 2018 awards, we centered the event theme around the hummingbird, symbolizing industry, adaptability, and resilience. Drawing inspiration from Victorian-era ornithological prints by the Audubon Society and the artwork of American painter Martin Johnson Heade, I developed a hummingbird and foliage motif that was featured across all event elements, including a large-scale tapestry, green carpet, and both print and digital assets.

For the 2019 Green Carpet Fashion Awards, I illustrated the designs for a 500sqm green carpet and tapestry, once again crafted by Econyl from recycled fishing nets. The floral motifs were inspired by Leonardo da Vinci’s medieval tapestry work displayed at The Met Cloisters in New York. These illustrations were also integrated into all event branding, from social media assets to event invitations.
